Meeting called to order by President Roxanne Leclerc at 2:04 p.m.

Roxanne shared two thank you notes from Rich Ahlfeld and Peter Pence for their monetary gift on their retirements.

Previous meeting minutes were reviewed.  A motion to accept minutes was made by Adrienne and 2nd by Paul.  All in favor.

The treasurer’s report was reviewed.  A motion to accept report was made by Kyle and 2nd by Edie.  All in favor.

Roxanne let everyone know that Alissa Stebbins has resigned from officiating at this time.  And our one new probationary candidate, Megan Biggs, has also left.  She has taken a new job on and cannot leave in time for games.  She hopes to rejoin next season.

Roxanne told all officials if you are notified of direct Covid contact tracing you need to let her, Marsha and Section X know.

Roxanne stated that at the next meeting there will be elections for Vice President, Rules Interpreter, Assignor and one Director at Large.

If you are interested in a position (or wish to stay in a position you are in) you must send an email to Laurinda and Adrienne 10 days prior to the end of season meeting.  The last meeting is October 17th so your email must be sent no later than October 7th.

At this time we hope to have an in-person meeting on October 17th.  This is set for 3:00 p.m. at Potsdam Middle School in Marsha’s room.  If this needs to be changed, we will notify you as soon as we know.  Please be monitoring your emails daily.

Topics discussed:

– No taping of any jewelry

– We are not responsible for mask protocols.

– Only one team rep in the pregame talk.

– Only one official in the pregame talk.

– Canton has illegal uniforms and need to show a waiver or they must receive an Administrative Red Card (ARC) at the beginning of the match. (Please note, they have received the waiver from NYSPHSAA.). This pertains to Varsity Uniforms only.

– Discussion on if it is legal for a libero enter after a time out.  This is legally allowed.

– Discussion held on how Potsdam wanted to forfeit the 1st set at a recent match.  This was allowed and play continued with the first set going to the opponets.

– There must be 6 players to play a set/match.  One school wanted to play with 5 players.

Laurinda reported that she will be sending out the applications for the Patti Baldwin Award to all the coaches.  She requested that we verbally remind the coaches and to be watching the players that the coaches indicate they will be submitting.

It is also requested that all officials be watching the Teams as a whole for our Team Sportsmanship award and to bring suggestions to the last meeting.

Discussion was held on the issue that having a trained scorekeeper is still an issue for several schools.  It is simply not possible for officials to train a scorekeeper 5 minutes before a match or to have to delay the progress of the match monitoring someone who doesn’t know what they are doing.

It was suggested that the scoring module be sent to all the School Athletic Directors and to all level of Coaches prior to the next season with implicitly stating they must have a trained scorekeeper at all matches.  We also need to make sure they fully understand that a separate clock keeper and libero tracker is also required.

Roxanne provided the playoff schedule as she has it.  This will be confirmed when Marsha is available.
