AUGUST 22, 2022 MEETING MINUTES
POTSDAM MIDDLE SCHOOL
MEMBERS PRESENT: Marsha Evans, Kathy Valancius, Tracie Lucas, John Maskell, Kyle Fennell, Paul Jones, Scott Whilhelm, Ashley Gadway, Edie Demarse, Larry Kelley,
Roxanne Leclerc, Janice Marlow, Adrienne Smith, Sarah Klock, Laurinda Stockwell
PROBATIONARY CANDIDATES PRESENT: Jaine Witherell, Kate Porter, Chris Dashnaw
Meeting called to order by President Roxanne Lelerc at 5:02 p.m.
Amber Gladle has decided to take one year’s leave of absence from officiating this season.
Reminder that the next two meetings are:
September 18th 3:00 p.m. Potsdam Middle School
October 16th. 3:00 p.m. Potsdam Middle School
We will have elections on October 16th for the following positions:
President, Secretary/Treasurer, 1 Director and Assignor
If you are interested in any of these positions, you must notify the nominating committee and Roxanne in writing 10 days prior to the meeting.
The Committee Assignments were handed out:
Nominating Committee: Larry Kelley and Adrienne Smith
Auditing Committee: Adrienne Smith, Tracy Lucas, Sarah Klock
Awards Committee: Laurinda Stockwell, Kathy Valancius
Professional Committee: Kathy Valancius, Tracie Lucas, Larry Kelley
Roxanne shared from Mark Wilson, Section 10 Director, that coaches will be rating officials after each match if they choose. An evaluation form was created with a rating of 1 – 7, 7 being the highest. If a coach scores an official 3 or lower, they must give a reason. They have a 24 hour cooling off period, but if they are going to rate the official it must be done within 7 days of the match. The evaluations will be shared with Roxanne and Marsha. Discussion held on sharing what coaches rate with the official it pertains to.
Discussion on fingerprinting and it was determined that all new candidates are in good standing with fingerprinting.
Roxanne went over a few items from her PAVO clinic and what is being stressed this season. Screening, back row attacks and overlapping. Discussion held on what to watch for.
Discussion on player having a migraine piercing. Only a stud type earring is allowed.
Discussion on players wearing passing sleeves and that is legal. They are not considered part of the uniform so they do not have to match.
Marsha presented a tutorial on using Review which will be our assignment tool this season. Marsha will give list of officials to Mark Wilson and an email with a pin number to sign in with will be sent. Please go in as soon as you receive that and block any days you are not available.
